Cllr Gurcharan Singh, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Ealing
Southall, this week welcomed the resumption of talks aimed at normalization
of relations between both countries.

He praised far-sightedness of both leaders, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Gillani and the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Cllr Singh said:

“By working together resolving all issues between them, India and Pakistan will usher in an era of prosperity and friendship. If both countries take these talks to their logical conclusion, then no isolated incident can derail this initiative.”

Cllr. Singh has visited Pakistan on a number of occasions, once while he was
Mayor of the London Borough of Ealing and once to discuss establishment of
Baba Guru Nanak Dev University at Nankana Sahib. He commented:

“On my visits I have always found people in Pakistan very welcoming, friendly and going out of their way to show their desire of friendship. Both India and Pakistan have been victims of terrorist attacks and have lost their leaders due to this menace. By increasing the amount of person to person contact between the two countries, we can focus on what we have in common and create an atmosphere which is conducive to further progress.”
