As you may (or may not) know, today is Gurpurab -the day commemorating the birth of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founding Guru of the Sikh religion. Being of Sikh faith myself, I like to use this occasion as an opportunity to give thanks for all that I've been blessed with in life and also to exchange gifts and general good will amongst my family, friends and constituents.
One of the key messages espoused by Guru Nanak was that of service to one's community - also referred to as "Seva" without want for reward. This universal message encourages a positive environment for Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike. So regardless of your background, I'd like to wish you all a Happy Gurpurab and encourage you all to consider Guru Nanak's message in your day-to-day lives.
Best wishes,
Gurcharan
