rememberance day

Earlier today I, along with Mr Ian Green (former Mayor for the London Borough of Ealing) and a number of local councillors attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial at The Green, Southall. Wreaths were layed by representatives from the Police, Fire Services, Scouts and the Southall Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony was attended by nearly 100 people with representation from all parts of the community.

Follow up:

After the ceromony, we all attended a short and poignant service at the St John's church (Church Avenue, Southall).

From a personal perspective, I find it hard not to think of my own father and grandfather - both of whom fought in the World Wars and sacrificed along with many others. We should truly honour anybody who is willing to fight for the freedoms and justices that we so often take for granted.

Gurcharan.
