Related article (Ealing Gazette)

Rumours have surfaced recently around the possible closure of the A&E department at Ealing Hospital. Even though the article above does much to dispel the rumours, it is still my view to take heed from the old adage – “there is no smoke without fire”. In this case, there is enough smoke to warrant concern.

Follow up:

It’s bad enough that Ealing Hospital has already had it’s services depleted e.g. through the loss of it’s well-run Stroke Unit. So to even consider the closure of the A&E facility at Ealing Hospital is unacceptable. I will certainly be watching closely to ensure that this is not happening.

****-
It's good to see that at least one of our local politico's has his eye on the ball - apparently, V.Sharma spent the weekend walking up and down Southall Broadway with dhol players! Good to know where his priorities lie!

If the rumour turns out true, then what will you do about it, and what will Ealing Council do about it?

Two questions.

Dear George,
I am first to admit that on my own I can not do much. This will have to be a collective effort. However, I am prepared to lead this fight.
I have already issued a press release, posted on my website and "tweeted" to make people aware.
I am also in the process of launching an on line as well as paper petition and will visit a number of organisations in this regard to drum up support. The online petition is here:

Furthermore, I am also in touch with certain representatives at the hospital.
As far as the Council is concerned, I am certain that the Health and Adult Social Services panel will consider it and can not think that it will support the closure. I am also planning to move a motion at the next full council meeting condemning the move.

Many thanks. How about an old fashioned march. Politicians hate people on the street.

Having voted Labour for the reign of Mr Blair,I even joined the Labour party for a while. Now I have to question the achievements of the Labour party within Southall ,my home for the last 41 years !
I will disclose to you now that I have been in contact with Cllr Gurcharan Singh (Conservative parliamentary candidate) and I will put the same questions to him.

1: The maternity ward at Ealing Hospital ,is it facing closure and if so what is the fate of Ealing Hospital.
2: The distribution and open abuse of khat. This drug of choice for the Somali community is illegal in the USA and most of Europe and yet it is widely used by the members of the Somali community, why?
3:The stalls that block the pedestrian right of way on Southall Broadway. Some time ago these stalls were challenged but it is a forgotten issue. I have seen mothers with pushchairs having to walk on the busy road because the pavement is so congested mainly due to the stalls coming so far out into the pavement.
4: Food stalls that have popped up all over Southall .These food stalls openly cook food in the open air . Please DO NOT tell me they meet health & safety regulations , example Meat being prepared , cooked & then stored in the open air / boiling oil in public areas frying food which is then stored openly .

Southall has been always been called little India ,well it’s NOT .This the UK.
The decent VERY hard working people of Southall tended to let the politicians just get on with it .They always voted for Labour because they believed the Tories “would kick them out of England.” That was the first wave of immigrants the second generation (myself) have a western education and have seen things in a different light. The Tories & the Labour party will NOT ignore my friends & me.
There are bigger & more important topics in the big wide world..Lets start with a local topic to see what the politicians can really offer the voters.
Let’s open up a dialogue with the above subjects and keep talking up-to, during and after the forthcoming elections.

Regards
