Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Ealing Southall, Cllr Gurcharan Singh, has launched a campaign to fight Labour’s likely closure of Ealing Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.

According to a leaked NHS document, acute services will be reduced in Ealing with the merger of Ealing, Harrow and Brent NHS. The strong implication of the document is that Ealing Hospital’s A and E unit will be closed.
Labour have not denied that this is where we headed, and Labour MP Virendra Sharma has remained quiet.

Cllr Gurcharan Singh said:

“The same half-denials and claims that no final decision has been made were made by Labour just before they closed Ealing Hospital’s Stoke Unit. It seems this is to be Labour’s parting gift for Ealing and Southall – the destruction of a vital community service, our A & E unit."

“The closure of A & E will mean dramatically less access to emergency services, and the need to travel many miles in emergencies. This move is dangerous and unacceptable for the people of Ealing, Hanwell and Southall."

“That is why we must do everything we can to stop Labour doing what they did to the Stroke Unit. We must shame them into changing course and ruling out the policy they are obviously set on."

I believe that it is not just the A&E unit at risk. The future of Maternity unit as well as children services is also at risk. If these units go, the future of Ealing hospital, as we know it, will be in jeopardy.
